Angry voters in Andhra Pradesh took to the streets after political parties failed to fulfill promises of bribery. In Sattenapally, voters from the 18th ward protested because they did not receive the money promised for voting for a certain party on May 13, 2024. They had previously marked on a list that they had been given money, leading to a confrontation with local leaders.
This incident highlighted corruption and electoral malpractice issues in Palnadu. In Pithapuram, where Pawan Kalyan of the JSP and Vanga Geetha of the YSRCP were competing, some voters protested in front of the YSRCP office because only a few were given Rs 3,000 per head as promised. The leaders who distributed the money to only a few went missing after the protest.
In Kothapeta of East Godavari district, voters started throwing back the sarees given to them by local leaders as a form of protest. This action was taken after they felt betrayed by the leaders who failed to fulfill their promises. These protests have brought attention to the issue of bribery and corruption in political campaigns in Andhra Pradesh.
