    The State government is waiting for the final report from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) on the Medigadda barrage issue, which will be made public. Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy mentioned during an informal interaction with the media at Gandhi Bhavan that the NDSA has presented an interim report, with the final report expected within a week. The details were also shared with the Judicial Commission, revealing visible damage to the barrage since 2019 due to neglect.

    The NDSA has recommended lifting the barrage gates completely and releasing Godavari waters as interim measures, stating that there is no guarantee the structure will remain stable. Minister Uttam stated that they will follow the experts’ suggestions and await the final report next week, which may include technical details about the project’s foundation, soil nature, and geological support.

    In response to rains and hailstorms on May 7, the State government has decided to purchase soaked paddy at minimum support price (MSP) and provide necessary assistance. Minister Uttam assured action against millers for excessive wastage and mentioned an increase in paddy collection centers compared to previous years. The government is prepared to procure a larger quantity of paddy this season, almost double the amount from the previous year.

    Additionally, following discussions with the Karnataka government and CM A Revanth Reddy, an agreement was reached for Karnataka to provide 2.25 TMC of drinking water to Telangana.
