Hyderabad: Congress candidate Sameer Waliullah accused AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi of becoming a billionaire by taking advantage of the voters in the constituency. He made these allegations during a media briefing before a bike rally in the Karwan constituency.

During the rally, senior Congress leaders, including Karwan in-charge Osman Ali Hajiri, joined Sameer Waliullah in pointing out the huge wealth gap between politicians and their constituents. Sameer emphasized that only a Congress victory could bring real benefits to the people of Hyderabad.

Sameer Waliullah highlighted the significant increase in Asaduddin Owaisi’s assets since becoming a Member of Parliament 20 years ago. Owaisi’s declared assets rose from Rs 39.02 lakh in 2004 to Rs 19 crore in 2024, representing a nearly 49-fold increase. Sameer criticized Owaisi’s luxurious lifestyle, contrasting it with the dire living conditions of many Muslims in the Old City.

He pointed out that while Owaisi had a lavish residence on four acres of land, most Muslims in the Old City lived in homes smaller than 100 square feet. Sameer urged voters to demand better representation, stating that MIM leaders had become billionaires while the city’s poor remained impoverished.
