Heavy rains and thunderstorms hit the combined Karimnagar district on Tuesday. The downpour affected areas like Manakondur, Huzurabad, Peddapalli, Sultanabad, Manthani, Vemulawada, Mallyala, Jagtial, and Pegdapally. The rain caused paddy in market yards to get wet, uprooted electric poles and trees, and led to a severe power outage. In Karimnagar town, heavy rains submerged many parts and flooded low-lying areas and surrounding villages.

The temperature had reached 46 degrees Celsius on Monday, prompting IMD officials to issue a red alert for Karimnagar district. However, on Tuesday afternoon, heavy rains and strong winds brought relief as the temperature dropped. The rain also led to the cancellation of CM Revanth Reddy’s visit to SRRS College Ground in Karimnagar for an election event.

Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar mentioned that the Congress ranks had made extensive arrangements for the public meeting in Karimnagar town, but the tents and dais collapsed due to a sudden storm. Similarly, in Manthani, Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma was supposed to support Peddapalli BJP candidate Gomasa Srinivas, but the tents collapsed and caused minor injuries to workers.

The rain also temporarily disrupted the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit to Vemulawada scheduled for Wednesday. Despite the interruption, arrangements were continuing under the guidance of BJP national general secretary Karimnagar Bandi Sanjay.
