Hyderabad is known for its unique slang, with people using phrases like ‘kya baigan ke baatan karra miya ine’ and ‘zabardast’, ‘kirak’, ‘maut daldinge’ during election season. These expressions add humor to conversations. During his campaign, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi used Deccani dialects and shayari, including humorous poetry, to target BJP and Sangh Parivar in Old City.

The dialect of Hyderabad is colorful and full of candid expressions that evoke laughter. Humor is an important part of everyday conversations in the Old City, and Asad used Dakhni poetry to explain BJP’s and RSS’ ideology to voters. The audience, especially the elderly, enjoyed the shayari during his public meetings.

At a recent event in Malakpet, Asad read out shayari targeting PM Modi and BJP leaders, using sarcastic verses like ‘Amma Bawa ko bhulgaya, Hau re…’ and ‘shaadi karke biwi ku bhulgaya, Hau re…’ He continued to criticize BJP’s actions through poetry by Ghouse Mohiuddin Khamakha and Himayatullah.

Asad’s lines were a sarcastic reference to BJP and RSS agenda for renaming Hyderabad. He questioned the idea of changing the city’s name to Bhagyanagar and criticized their treatment of Muslim women. The crowd responded enthusiastically to his remarks, showing support for his stance against the proposed changes.
