    Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Dept Hyderabad (IMD-H) has issued a yellow alert for 18 districts in Telangana, warning of heat wave conditions with temperatures reaching up to 44 degrees Celsius. In response, the Health department has released a health advisory for the public.

    The director of Health, Dr. B Ravinder Naik, issued the advisory on Wednesday. The officials have provided a list of recommendations for staying safe during the heat wave. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated by drinking water regularly, even if not feeling thirsty. They are also encouraged to use Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and consume homemade drinks like lemon water, buttermilk, or fruit juices.

    Additionally, people are urged to carry water while traveling, eat fruits and vegetables with high water content, avoid direct sunlight, keep windows closed during the day, limit outdoor activities to cooler times of the day, and avoid strenuous activities in the afternoon. It is also recommended to avoid going barefoot outside, cooking during peak summer hours, consuming alcohol, caffeine, or sugary drinks, eating high-protein or stale food, and leaving children or pets in parked vehicles.

    Citizens are advised to seek medical attention if they experience symptoms like altered mental state, hot and dry skin, high body temperature, severe headache, dizziness, fainting, or confusion. It is important to follow the do’s and don’ts provided in the advisory to stay safe during the heat wave.
