GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose has instructed all officers of GHMC to follow a weekly action plan in basti areas for 100% door-to-door collection of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and eliminating Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) with the help of Self Help Group (SHG) members.
The weekly action plan includes different activities for each day of the week. Day 1 involves a Basti Meeting, Day 2 is for identifying households not connected to SAT vehicles, Day 3 includes a rally in all basti areas, Day 4 is for a motivational program, Day 5 involves Rangoli, Day 6 is for a Town Vending Committee Meeting (TVC), and Day 7 includes a Pledge and Resolutions program over the weekend.
The main goal of the weekly Basti Action Plan is to achieve 100% door-to-door collection of MSW and eliminate Garbage Vulnerable Points. So far, 1,785 meetings have been held in all basti areas involving SHGs, SAT Auto drivers, and SLF Members. Additionally, gaps in garbage collection in slum areas have been identified, and 1,98,893 households have been attached/tagged to SATs for garbage collection out of the total 1,57,123 households in all basti areas.
Furthermore, 1,214 rallies and 1,357 motivational programs have been conducted involving thousands of citizens. Additionally, 1,347 Rangoli programs have taken place engaging citizens, along with 363 Town Vending Committee Meetings for households not connected to SATs. Awareness meetings have also been held for GVP elimination, where SHG workers have been appreciated for their efforts towards this cause.
