The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is hosting its annual summer coaching camps for 37 days, from April 25 to May 31. Children between the ages of six and 16 can receive coaching in 44 different sports at over 900 centers across the city.
The sports offered include athletics, archery, badminton, basketball, boxing, cricket, chess, cycling, fencing, football, gymnastics, hockey, handball, judo, karate, kabaddi, and more. Indoor games will also be available upon request. The camps aim to provide a break from academic pressure and encourage children to stay active through sports.
GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose attended the opening of the camps at PJR Stadium in Chandanagar and Kukatpally Housing Board (KPHB) Colony Ground. He emphasized the importance of sports alongside education and urged parents to support their children’s sporting interests. Previous camp participants have gone on to compete at state and national levels.
Each sport will have experienced coaches and quality equipment for the children to use. The camp fees are affordable, ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50. Towards the end of the camps, competitions will be held where children can win rewards and certificates.
The inaugural program was attended by Zonal Commissioner Abhilasha Abhinav, GHMC sports department officials, coaches, students, and parents.
