In Hyderabad, the Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (DCA) recently conducted raids on quacks operating clinics without proper qualifications. These quacks were found illegally stocking drugs for sale at their clinics. The raids took place at three different locations: Veppur village in Mahabubnagar district, Jangaon in Jangaon district, and Film Nagar in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

During the raids, officials seized medicines totaling Rs 2.56 lakh from the unlicensed clinics operated by quacks. In Veppur village, 36 varieties of drugs were discovered, including 10 varieties of expired drugs and 12 varieties of physician’s samples. The DCA also found ‘higher generation’ antibiotics at the clinics, which could have harmful effects on the health of rural residents due to the potential for antimicrobial resistance.

Additionally, steroids were found at the quack clinics during the raids. Misusing steroids can lead to serious health consequences such as immune system suppression, hormonal imbalances, muscle and bone weakness, cardiovascular problems, and psychological effects. The DCA emphasized the dangers of unqualified individuals selling antibiotics and steroids to the public.

Overall, the raids conducted by the DCA aimed to crack down on quacks operating illegally and endangering the health of the community.
