A major fire broke out in Choutuppal town center on Friday. The godown, owned by Suresh from Choutuppal, was being run in a one-acre land on the outskirts of the town. Suresh also runs Srini Pharma under the name Om Sairam Scrap.

The godown purchased scrap and old materials from various industries in the mandal and surrounding areas. These materials were segregated and stored separately, with plastic materials being stored at the back of the godown. The fire started when some farmers set fire to garbage in a cotton field behind the warehouse, causing embers to fall into the godown and spark a fire. The fire spread rapidly due to the presence of plastic materials.

The manager noticed the fire and called in fire tenders. The local fire engine was not enough, so two more fire engines were brought from surrounding mandals, along with a state-of-the-art fire engine from Divis Pharma industry. The fire burnt down a large amount of plastic materials, resulting in a loss of about Rs 20 lakh for the owners.

Nearby pharma companies and grain warehouses raised concerns about the fire spreading to them, but were relieved when the fire was brought under control. ACP Patolla Madusudhan Reddy, Tehsildar Harikrishna, and CI Ashok Reddy rushed to the spot to oversee the fire-fighting operation. The police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
