Three people were arrested by the Madhuranagar police in Hyderabad for selling fake ayurvedic medicines and scamming people. The suspects had counterfeit medicines in their possession and were involved in 14 cases, extorting a total of Rs 19 lakh from victims.

The arrested individuals included one person from Karnataka and two from Nagpur. They operated three or four ayurvedic medical stores across Hyderabad. Their targets were individuals suffering from ailments like cancer, paralysis, skin diseases, Alzheimer’s, knee pains, and more. They would approach these victims, claiming to have a cure for their conditions and exploiting their vulnerability and desperation for a solution.

The accused would deceive victims by stating that a relative with a similar condition had been cured by taking Ayurvedic medicines from their store. They would then obtain the victims’ phone numbers, visit their residences, and make solutions by mixing various oils, promising full recovery. Claiming to possess a rare traditional ayurvedic plant available only in their store, they charged exorbitant amounts ranging from Rs 2000 to 3,00,000 for one gram.
