    Cyberabad police dismantle five online cricket betting operations, detain 15 individuals, and confiscate Rs 2.41 crore

    The Cyberabad Special Operation Team (SOT) busted an online Cricket betting gang during the ongoing IPL-2024 matches in five areas under Cyberabad Commissionerate. They arrested 15 people involved in the betting activities.

    The SOT Shamshabad team apprehended a professional bookie named Pondhuri Suresh who was organizing online cricket betting through various websites and applications. Another accused, Mothkupally Rama Krishna Reddy, was also apprehended as a punter. The main organizer, Ramanjaneyulu, is currently absconding.

    The police seized a significant amount of money related to Cricket betting activities and froze multiple bank accounts. In another case, four respondents were apprehended for organizing online cricket betting through an app. The main organizer in this case was identified as Kalyan of Bheemavaram.

    In a separate incident, four bookies were apprehended for organizing online cricket betting through different websites. Main organizers connected to this case are currently absconding. A considerable amount of money was seized and multiple bank accounts were frozen.

    The SOT Balanagar team also apprehended individuals involved in online cricket betting activities. They seized money and froze bank accounts connected to the illegal betting operations. Overall, 57 bank accounts and 8 Phone Pay UPI numbers were frozen in connection to online Cricket betting.

    Police urged citizens to report any information about bookies and punters involved in online Cricket betting by calling Dial 100 or contacting Cyberabad Police through WhatsApp at 9490617444. Callers’ identities will be kept confidential.
