In Hyderabad, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started a weekly action plan to ensure 100% door-to-door collection of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and get rid of Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs). GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose has directed all GHMC officials to carry out this plan in all basti areas.

The main goal of the weekly Basti Action Plan is to achieve full door-to-door MSW collection and eliminate GVPs. To reach this target, 1,631 meetings have been held in all basti areas involving Self-Help Groups (SHGs), SAT auto drivers, and Sanitary Field Laborers (SLF).

There have been gaps in garbage collection identified in slum areas, with 1,97,891 households out of a total of 1,54,954 households in basti areas being connected to SATs for garbage collection. Additionally, there have been 921 rallies and 1,021 motivational programs conducted engaging 5,798 citizens actively.
