In Hyderabad, Gandra Mohan Rao, a senior counsel representing two petitioners who are asking for a CBI investigation into the allocation of 850 acres of valuable land to IMG Bharata Academies Pvt Ltd, informed the Telangana High Court’s division bench on Wednesday. He mentioned that it has been more than 12 years since the two PILs were filed, and that the current value of the government land is over Rs 1 lakh crore. Rao also stated that many senior leaders, including former CM Chandrababu Naidu, were involved in the allocation and that a thorough investigation is necessary.
The counsel explained to the court that the special leave petition filed by IMG Bharata Academies Ltd in the Supreme Court, challenging a previous HC order, has not yet been assigned a number. Even if it is numbered, the SLP will not impact the adjudication of the two PILs. The division bench had dismissed a writ petition by IMG Bharata claiming ownership of the 850 acres, and instead returned the land to the State government. The court was considering two PILs filed by ABK Prasad and another individual from Kondapur, as well as a PIL filed by advocate T Sriranga Rao, all requesting a CBI investigation into the land allocation.
The CJ bench has postponed further hearings on the two PILs until April 29.
