The Election Commission of India (ECI) has served a notice to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for making derogatory comments against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu. The notice asks for an explanation within 48 hours.

The notice was issued by Chief Electoral Officer CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena based on a complaint filed by TDP leader Varla Ramaiah. The complaint stated that YS Jagan’s comments against Chandrababu Naidu violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The CEO’s preliminary assessment found that Reddy’s comments did indeed violate the model code of conduct.

During a recent “Memantha Siddham” meeting, YS Jagan compared Chandrababu Naidu to a character from the movie Arundhati, suggesting that Naidu’s habit is to cheat. This comparison was deemed derogatory by the Election Commission.

Previously, Nara Chandrababu Naidu had also received a notice from the CEO for making derogatory comments against YS Jagan. The complaint was made by YSRCP State general secretary Lella Appi Reddy, who accused Naidu of calling YS Jagan a monster, thief, and evil-doer at various rallies.
