In Hyderabad, the Traffic police of North district are cracking down on illegal modification of motorcycle silencers to reduce pollution and improve road safety. They have booked over 1,910 cases and confiscated about 1,000 modified silencers.
Modifying silencers on motorbikes not only breaks traffic rules but also harms the environment. It leads to louder noise and more air pollution, which can be dangerous for people’s health and the community as a whole.
Installing modified silencers is against traffic laws and can result in penalties and legal consequences. According to an amendment in the Motor Vehicles Act, using pressure horns or modified silencers that produce over 80 decibels of noise can lead to fines up to Rs. 10,000 and imprisonment up to six months.
Many young bikers like to use pressure horns and modified silencers for style, but this can cause distractions and panic on the roads. The noise pollution from these modifications can lead to health issues like high blood pressure, hearing damage, and even death.
Constant exposure to loud noises from traffic can have long-term effects on health, causing cardiovascular disease, hearing problems, and sleep disorders. It can also impact memory, concentration, and overall well-being.
