The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) conducted raids on clinics run by quacks posing as ‘Rural Medical Practitioners’ without proper qualifications. The Spandana Clinic in Gachibowli and Sri Venkateswara Clinic in Ranga Reddy, as well as the diagnostics of Medchal-Malkajgiri, were found to be stocking various medicines without authorization. These included antibiotics, steroids, analgesics, cough syrups, anti-ulcer drugs, anti-diabetics, and anti-hypertensives. DCA officials seized medicines worth Rs 18,000 during the raid.

At the clinics, higher-generation antibiotics and steroids were found, which can have serious health consequences when misused. The indiscriminate use of these drugs by unqualified individuals poses risks to public health. The officials conducting the raids included drugs inspectors from various areas.

Samples were collected for analysis during the raids, and further investigation will be carried out to take necessary legal action against the offenders. In a separate raid in Patancheru, alozole-100 capsules were seized. These capsules were found to be priced above the ceiling price set by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013.

The product in question was manufactured by Gujarat Pharmaceuticals and marketed by Alloes Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd. The MRP on the product label exceeded the ceiling price set by the government. The firm was found to be overpricing the capsules, charging customers more than the allowed price. This violation of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 will result in appropriate action being taken by the authorities.
