    Hyderabad’s Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Ronald Rose recently announced new measures to protect citizens from stray dogs. A meeting was held at the GHMC headquarters where Rose and Additional Commissioner Ravi Kiran discussed ways to prevent dog attacks and bites.

    During the meeting, Rose emphasized the importance of following guidelines to keep the public safe from stray dogs in the city. He instructed the veterinary department to focus on sterilization and anti-birth control measures for stray dogs. The goal is to reduce the number of stray dogs and prevent attacks.

    In response to recent stray dog attacks, veterinary officials recommended regular rabies vaccinations for stray dogs to reduce health risks. It was also suggested that people should be educated about preventing stray dogs from forming groups and disposing of waste properly, especially from meat shops.

    To address the issue, the meeting proposed registering pet dogs and ensuring they are vaccinated. Door-to-door campaigns will be conducted to raise awareness among pet owners. The committee also suggested using various media platforms to educate the public about stray dog issues.

    A core committee, including representatives from voluntary organizations, will work together to develop proposals for the government’s approval. Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Abdul Vakil and representatives from Blue Cross, People for Animals, Commando Kennels, and Animal Aid Society were also present at the meeting.
