T Krishna Prasad, a retired IPS officer from Telangana, is now running as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate in the Bapatla (SC) Lok Sabha constituency against the current MP from the YSR Congress, Nandigam Suresh.

Krishna Prasad started his career in undivided Andhra Pradesh as a senior IPS officer before moving to the Telangana cadres during the State’s bifurcation. He has held positions such as Superintendent of Police in Guntur, Commissioner of Police in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, and Chairman of the State Road Safety Authority. He even adopted a village in Vikarabad district during his service. Krishna Prasad is also an IIM-A graduate.

Following his retirement, Krishna Prasad joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and sought a ticket to run in the Secunderabad Cantonment (SC) constituency. However, he did not receive the ticket and instead was announced as the TDP candidate for Bapatla Lok Sabha seat.

Interestingly, the TDP chose to replace one of its loyal activists and former Irrigation Minister, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, with sitting MP Vasantha Krishna Prasad from the YSR Congress in the Nandigama constituency. This decision has caused dissatisfaction among TDP members in the area.
