Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari instructed officials from various departments to work together and effectively enforce the model code of conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. A meeting was held at the Secretariat with senior officers from Police, Excise, Commercial Taxes, Forest, Revenue, and Transport departments in attendance.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary urged officials to perform their duties diligently during the elections, similar to how they did during the recent Legislative Assembly elections. Special check posts have been set up on the borders with Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, along with increased surveillance in coordination with neighboring states.
Various departments have established check posts across the state for election monitoring and code of conduct enforcement. The police department alone has set up 444 check posts and seized cash, weapons, explosives, and gold. The transport department has deployed 15 check posts and 52 enforcement teams, while the Commercial Taxes Department has set up 16 inter-state check posts and monitored strategic points for illegal activities.
The Excise Department has established 21 inter-state check posts and identified districts prone to illicit liquor manufacturing. Forest Department has also set up 65 check posts, including 18 inter-state check posts. All government departments are working together to ensure strict compliance with the election code of conduct.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari directed the Command and Control Center of the Police Department in Hyderabad to monitor liquor transportation through CCTVs. Other top officials from various departments also participated in the meeting to coordinate efforts for a smooth election process.
