Students from the School of Agricultural Sciences at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad protested by burning effigies of MLA Malla Reddy. This happened because around 60 BSc Agricultural students were detained for low exam scores.

The students chanted “we want justice” and demanded a reevaluation of the detained students’ answer sheets. Congress leader Mynampally Hanumanth Rao was present at the protest and assured the students of government support.

One student mentioned the lack of proper faculty, intentional detentions despite a policy change in 2018, and the absence of basic facilities like ID cards at the university. The protest will continue until the detentions are revoked.
