Mudragada Padmanabham, a senior leader and former minister advocating for the Kapu community in Andhra Pradesh, recently joined the YSR Congress Party. He joined the party in the presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy along with his son Giri at the Chief Minister’s residence in Tadepalli.
Jagan welcomed Padmanabham by adorning him with the party stole. Padmanabham then called on the Kapu community to support the YSR Congress Party in the upcoming elections to ensure their aspirations are fulfilled.
Padmanabham had initially planned to join the party in a large rally from his residence in Kirlampudi to Tadepalli on March 14. However, due to logistical constraints, he decided to join the party alone at the Chief Minister’s residence.
He announced that his decision to join the YSR Congress Party was unconditional and that he did not seek party tickets for himself or his son in the upcoming elections. Padmanabham expressed his commitment to work for the party and support Jagan in implementing more welfare schemes for the poor and downtrodden.
Padmanabham’s decision to join the YSR Congress Party is expected to boost the party’s presence in the Godavari districts where the Kapu community holds a significant influence. Another Kapu leader, Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah’s son, also joined the YSR Congress Party, further strengthening the party’s position in the region.
