Trimulgherry Lake, an old lake located in the Secunderabad Cantonment area, is going to be revitalized and beautified. The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) will start the first phase of the lake development project soon. The foundation stone for this work was laid by SCB officials recently.
The lake has been neglected for a long time due to issues like delays in funding. During the rainy season, the lake overflows, causing problems for nearby residents. Once the project is finished, it will bring relief to people living in the area. The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
The first phase of the project will involve laying the ring sewer and widening the bund in the second phase. A Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) with a capacity of 4 million liters per day will also be installed after getting the necessary approvals. Beautification work will follow these initial phases.
The total cost of the project is Rs 5.8 crore, with SCB and the State government sharing expenses equally. SCB has already started work on the lake and ring sewer with HMWSSB’s help. The State government has approved funding for the diversion sewer line construction. HMDA will cover the project expenses, and work is scheduled to begin on March 14.
