Uncertainty continues in Telangana regarding the implementation of the New Education Policy-2020 (NEP-2020), even four years after its notification. The University Grants Commission (UGC), All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) have been working to implement the new policy, but Telangana has yet to make a decision.

Many other states have already begun implementing the new initiatives of the higher education regulators, affecting institutions in various fields. Delaying the decision on NEP-2020 could impact students and their educational opportunities. The State government needs to make a decision soon, according to professors from Osmania University.

With only two months left before the new academic year begins, Telangana faces uncertainty about NEP-2020. Significant changes, such as transforming agricultural universities into multi-disciplinary universities and overhauling the regulatory system, are on the horizon. This includes the formation of a new Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) to bring all regulatory frameworks under one umbrella.
