The moon sighting committee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has declared that the auspicious month of Ramzan will commence on Monday, March 11. The committee also stated that Taraweeh prayers will commence on Sunday, March 10, following the Isha prayers.
The confirmation came after the crescent moon, symbolizing the commencement of the holy month of Ramzan 1445 AH, was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Sunday evening, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Sunday marked the culmination of Shaban 1445 Hijri, with the sighting of the crescent on its 29th day.
The announcement follows the Supreme Court’s call on Saturday, March 9, urging Muslims across the Kingdom to observe the sighting of the Ramzan 1445 crescent on Sunday evening.
Furthermore, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar have also announced that Monday will mark the beginning of Ramzan 2024.
This declaration is met with anticipation and joy among Muslims across Saudi Arabia, as they prepare to embark on the month-long journey of fasting, prayer, and reflection. Ramzan holds profound spiritual significance in Islam, marking a period of heightened devotion, self-discipline, and communal solidarity.
As believers eagerly await the commencement of Ramzan, mosques and community centers are abuzz with preparations for the nightly Taraweeh prayers and special gatherings aimed at fostering a sense of unity and devotion among worshippers.
With the sighting of the crescent moon, Saudi Arabia and other Muslim-majority nations embrace the arrival of Ramzan, a time of renewal, forgiveness, and spiritual growth. As the faithful eagerly await the call of the muezzin to begin their fasts, they are reminded of the timeless teachings of compassion, generosity, and humility that define this sacred month.
As the sun sets on Sunday evening, millions of Muslims across Saudi Arabia will gather in mosques and homes to offer prayers of gratitude and supplication, heralding the arrival of Ramzan with hearts filled with hope and reverence.
