    The chairman of the University Grants Commission, Professor M Jagadesh Kumar, spoke about the importance of using technology to address global challenges at the sixth Foundation Day of ASPIRE at the University of Hyderabad. He emphasized the need to address biodiversity to protect species from harm.

    Professor Kumar highlighted the importance of integrating scientific innovations with societal values. He stressed the need for convergence of knowledge, technological innovations, and societal values for global prosperity. The event brought together speakers from government, industries, venture capitalists, and incubation ecosystems, focusing on strategies for sustainable growth of deep-tech startups.

    The chairman also discussed the challenges of career focus over work-life balance and the need for gender fairness in development. He emphasized the protection of natural materials and the importance of helping farmers increase output for food security. Professor Kumar also touched on lifestyle illnesses among youth and stressed the importance of lifestyle changes and stress management for a healthy society.

    The event included talks on AI, biotherapeutics, and a panel discussion on securing investments for long-gestation startups. UoH Vice-Chancellor Professor B J Rao welcomed participants, and Dr Anil Kondreddy, the chief operating officer of ASPIRE Bio-NEST, briefed about its activities.
