The CBI has summoned BRS MLC K Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam, causing concern in the pink party. She was previously questioned by the ED and CBI as a suspect, but this time she has been named as an accused in the chargesheet.

Kavitha has been served notices under Section 41A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which is given to either a suspect or an accused. Since she has now been identified as an accused, she may need to appear before the CBI in Delhi on February 28. If she fails to attend, the CBI may seek an arrest warrant.

Allegations were made by the Enforcement Directorate that Kavitha had destroyed all her cell phones. Her former personal assistant Ashok Kaushik, who had become an approver in court, claimed that money was given to key individuals in the Delhi government during Kavitha’s time as an MP.

Despite consulting her legal team and challenging the ED summons in the Supreme Court, Kavitha is facing pressure from the BJP government. The timing of the notice, just before the announcement of the election schedule, is seen as a tactic to manipulate the situation.

Union Minister Ashwini Choubey suggested that Kavitha would be arrested along with Arvind Kejriwal. He also implied that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy could face legal issues for his comments about Biharis.
