In Karimnagar, political leaders and land grabbers are feeling anxious because the police have started cracking down on land grabs. Three corporators and a leader have already been arrested, and four more are expected to be arrested soon. The Karimnagar CP, Abhishek Mahanty, has received complaints from over a hundred victims, with more people lining up to file complaints.

As the police continue to target the land mafia, more cases of encroachment are being uncovered. Complaints are also being filed at the Praja Darbar in Hyderabad, leading to arrests ordered by the government and causing a stir across the State. Police officials are keeping the complaints confidential, but there have been demands for inquiries into encroachments on various lands.

Since the BRS government took power for the second time, there have been numerous incidents of land grabbing and forced collections, resulting in the destruction of civilian homes. Influential figures, public representatives, corporators, and former MPTC members have been implicated in these incidents. Despite pressure, Minister Pannom Prabhakar has stated that he will not interfere in the case of land grabbers.

The police are making arrests based on strong evidence and are even planning to confiscate the passports of leaders to prevent them from leaving the country. The Karimnagar CP’s team is collecting evidence on land grabbing complaints at the field level and coordinating with various departments to take action. Complaints have also been lodged against former police officers and revenue officers.

An SIT named the Economic Offenses Wing has been set up to investigate complaints of land grabs and financial crimes, collecting crucial documents and evidence for investigation. Recent arrests include corporator Thota Ramu and Jangili Sagar. Despite some false propaganda on social media causing concern among unrelated individuals, many are supportive of the police crackdown on land grabbers.

Last week, fake documents led to the collection of Rs. 1.37 crore in a land scam in Raykurti. The husbands of two corporators were arrested and produced in court, along with Eleti Bharat Reddy. Some corporators have also been taken into custody for investigation after complaints of large sums of money being collected. People are pleased with the actions taken by the Police Commissioner, including opening a rowdy sheet on Jungli Sagar.

On Tuesday, Nandelli Mahipal, a key follower of a former minister, was arrested as an accused in a land dispute and remanded for 14 days after being produced in court.
