The government of Hyderabad has made a major decision to remove Engineer-in-Chief (Irrigation) C Muralidhar from his position. Muralidhar was considered a trusted engineer by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. This move is significant because the government is planning to expose the previous BRS government and release a whitepaper on irrigation during the budget session.
In addition to removing Muralidhar, the government is also taking steps to remove other top irrigation officials involved in the construction of the Kaleshwaram project. ENC (in-charge, Ramagundam) C Venkateshwara Rao is also expected to be removed from his position. The government is preparing a report to hold irrigation officials responsible for the damage of Medigadda barrage and Annaram and Sundilla pump houses.
Sources have revealed that Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has asked Muralidhar to resign. Muralidhar had been appointed as ENC after the BRS government came to power in 2014. He has served as E-in-C for the past nine years. The Vigilance report, which will be presented during the budget session, will provide detailed information about Muralidhar and Venkateshwar Rao’s roles in the mismanagement of the Kaleshwaram project and alleged irregularities in the completion of the lift scheme.
