The Telangana government is planning to implement two new guarantees in addition to the free travel for women in RTC buses. These guarantees include providing cooking gas cylinders at a subsidized price of Rs 500 to the poor and constructing Indiramma houses. The government is also considering a scheme to supply 200 units of free electricity. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to prepare an action plan for the implementation of these guarantees. He has asked for details on the financial requirements and the number of beneficiaries for each scheme. The necessary funds will be allocated in the Budget and a final decision will be made after a meeting with the Cabinet sub-committee.
The Chief Minister has also inquired about the applications received in the Praja Palana programme, which took place from December 28, 2023, to January 6. Over 1 crore applications were registered and data entry was completed on January 12. Some applicants submitted multiple applications or did not provide their Aadhar and Ration card numbers. The officials have been instructed to re-examine these applications and conduct field visits if necessary. They will verify the details multiple times to ensure that all eligible individuals can benefit from the schemes. Any errors or mistakes in the applications can be rectified in the MPDO offices or in the next Praja Palana programme.
The Chief Minister has warned officials not to impose unnecessary rules for the implementation of the guarantees. A mechanism will be developed to ensure that every eligible applicant receives the scheme benefits. The government will continue to accept applications and provide opportunities for those who have not yet applied.
