The State government of Hyderabad announced that all pending traffic challans will be cleared by giving a discount on the penalty amount. This decision was made on December 26, 2023, following the directions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
To implement this decision, the State government issued GO Rt. No. 652 of Transport, Roads & Building (Tr-1) Department. This Government Order declared a waiver of 80% of the fine amount for two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicles, 90% for TSRTC buses, and 60% for LMV/HMV vehicles. This waiver applies to pending eChallans issued under the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 to vehicle owners in all police Commissionerates and districts of Telangana. It is a one-time measure.
Due to the rush and economic hardships faced by the public during the Covid pandemic, the Police Department has extended the last date to clear pending e-challans until January 31. Vehicle owners can use the online payment mode to clear their pending challans during this period. They are encouraged to take advantage of this one-time opportunity.
