    An awareness programme took place at KBR Park in Hyderabad on Sunday to educate people about the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler. The event aimed to prevent countless deaths and disabilities caused by not wearing a helmet.

    During the programme, traffic police and doctors highlighted the negative consequences of not wearing a helmet and emphasized the many benefits of wearing one. Renowned Neurosurgeon DrPratap Kumar supervised the event, which was organized by the Telangana Neurosciences Society and led by PriyanshuNandigama, a class 11 student from Aga Khan Academy.

    DCP traffic, Subba Rayudu, pointed out that road accidents result in a high number of fatalities in our country, with two-wheeler riders being the most vulnerable. ACP Cyberabad, Mattaiah, stressed that both two-wheeler riders and pillion riders should wear helmets for their safety.

    Pediatrician Dr Srikanth highlighted the impact of road accidents on the youth, who are crucial for the country’s development. He also explained the economic losses our country suffers due to these preventable deaths. Priyanshu, who led the program, emphasized that using a poor-quality helmet is even more dangerous than not using one.
