Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), according to Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, the party’s general secretary and government advisor. Reddy downplayed the entry of YS Sharmila and her party’s merger with the Congress, stating that Sharmila is free to represent any place of her choice.

During a media interaction at the CM camp office, Reddy expressed suspicion over former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s involvement in the merger. He alleged that Naidu was behind Sharmila joining the Congress and claimed that TDP leaders who previously made allegations against Sharmila’s husband were now seen standing next to him and taking pictures. Reddy also mentioned a meeting between TDP leader BTech Ravi and Sharmila’s husband, which he believed was part of Naidu’s plan.

Reddy highlighted that the Congress has a history of pitting family members against each other for political gain. He cited an example from the early days of YSRCP when the Congress fielded YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s paternal uncle in the elections.

According to Reddy, Naidu is attempting to divert attention towards Sharmila because he knows he won’t win the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. Reddy criticized Naidu for his lack of focus on welfare issues and accused him of playing political games through others.

Reddy also stated that the Congress has no future in Andhra Pradesh, and his party does not consider Congress as a significant opponent in the state.
