Political heat is rising in the Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency as the AIMIM’s main rival tries to gain public attention. MBT leader Amjedullah Khan, who lost in the Yakutpura Assembly constituency by a small margin, wants to run as the LS candidate of ‘INDIA Bloc’ this time. In the recent polls, he received 45,275 votes while running against MIM candidate Jaffar Hussain Meraj, who won with 46,153 votes.
The MBT believes they lost because of alleged ‘bogus voting’, which has given them hope to contest the Hyderabad LS seat. Khan is working hard to maintain momentum by raising public issues with the government and engaging in social activities. His successful running of the ‘Praja Durbar’ grievance center at his office-cum-residence in Chanchalguda has helped him stay connected with the people. The MBT is focusing on the entire LS constituency this time and making preparations to ensure victory. They claim that the MIM supports the BJP at the Centre and that the candidate winning from Hyderabad helps the BJP gain power in other states. The MBT is the only party that remains close to the people around the clock, and they believe times have changed since Congress came to power in Telangana.
Meanwhile, MIM legislators and party chief Asaduddin Owaisi have been busy, especially after the launch of ‘Praja Palana’. Asad’s primary focus is on the Yakutpura and Nampally segments. Yakutpura is represented by Jaffar Hussain, who defeated Khan by less than a thousand votes. In Nampally, Congress candidate Feroz Khan put up a tough fight against MIM candidate Md Majid Hussain. Asad visited the Praja Palana centers of both constituencies on Tuesday, while MLAs are being seen daily in other segments.
Activists from both parties are busy on social media, damaging the prospects of each other. They blame each other for playing into the hands of the BJP and label leaders as agents of Modi.
