The State government in Hyderabad has announced a discount on traffic fines, leading many people with pending fines to take their time to pay. So far, a total of Rs 8.44 crore has been paid for 9.61 lakh challans in the State. In Hyderabad, Rs 2.62 crore was collected from 3.54 lakh challans, while in Cyberabad, Rs 1.80 crore was collected from 1.82 lakh challans. Rachakonda Commissionerate collected Rs 76.79 lakh from 93,000 challans.
Unfortunately, the Telangana e-Challan website where payments were supposed to be made crashed due to a high number of users trying to pay their fines and take advantage of the discount. Users complained that after entering their vehicle number, the details were not shown. They are dissatisfied with this issue and have requested the traffic police to solve it promptly.
The traffic police have given motorists the opportunity to pay their pending fines at a discount of up to 80%. This initiative has received a tremendous response, with many people logging into the official e-challan website to clear their fines.
