The Singareni Collieries Workers’ Union (SCWU) has won the trade union elections at Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. They secured 16,177 votes, making up 43.2% of the total. The union is affiliated with the All-India Trade Union Congress of CPI. On the other hand, the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), affiliated with Congress, received 14,178 votes, accounting for 37.86% of the vote share. The TBGKS, a two-time winner, only received 1,298 votes, with a 3.47% share. Despite INTUC winning six out of the 11 divisions, SCWU emerged as the overall winner with five divisions. The elections saw a voter turnout of 94.2%, with 37,468 out of 39,773 voters participating. The elections took place in 42 coal mines across seven districts in northern Telangana, with 13 trade unions in the running. Ballot papers were used in all 84 polling stations for the 11 divisions. The TBGKS supported the CPI-affiliated union, resulting in their lower vote count of less than 1,500.
