    DGP Ravi Gupta reports an 8.97% rise in crime rate in Telangana for 2023

    The crime rate in Telangana state has increased by 8.97% compared to last year. State DGP Ravi Gupta held a press conference today to discuss the accomplishments of the police department in 2023.

    According to the DGP, cyber crime has increased by 17.59% in the overall crime rate of the state.

    Interestingly, there has been a 1% decrease in fatal road accidents. The total number of fatal road accidents this year was 6,362, compared to 6,432 last year.

    Grievous road accidents have also decreased by 60% from 2,410 to 969 this year.

    The overall conviction rate was 41%, with a 39% increase in life convictions this year.

    DGP Ravi Gupta mentioned that murder cases have increased to 789, compared to 780 last year. A total of 2,284 rape cases were registered, with most of them being committed by close family friends, friends, lovers, and colleagues.
