The South Central Railway in Hyderabad has achieved a milestone by surpassing 100 million tonnes (MTs) in freight loading in just 270 days. This is faster than the previous record set in the last financial year, which took 284 days. Officials from SCR have observed growth in freight loading across all commodities compared to the same period last year. They continuously monitor the demand from freight customers to ensure timely supply of wagons.

The different types of commodities loaded include coal, cement, fertilizers, food grains, raw materials for steel plants, iron ore, and other commodities. The total freight loading amounts to 100.853 MTs. Special attention has been given to coal transportation, and a new rail line between Bhadrachalam and Sattupalli has been commissioned for this purpose. Cement, iron ore, food grains, and fertilizers have also witnessed increased levels of loading this year.
