    The State government of Hyderabad will give Rs 2 lakh to a 23-year-old delivery boy who died while being chased by a dog earlier this year. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with gig and platform workers to discuss their concerns.

    During the meeting, the founder president of Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU), Shaik Salauddin, brought up the case of Mohammed Rizwan, who died in January 2023.

    In response to the workers’ grievances, the State government announced health insurance of Rs 10 lakh and accident insurance of Rs 5 lakh for gig workers. They also promised to provide ex-gratia to Rizwan’s family.

    Following the CM’s instructions, officials from the Labor Department, including the Joint Commissioner of Labor (JCL), Hyderabad zone D Shyamsundar Reddy, and two deputy commissioners, visited Rizwan’s family in Sri Ram Nagar, Yousufguda. They collected details and completed the compensation process with the help of TGPWU members.

    The incident took place on January 11 at Lumbini Rock Castle apartment in Banjara Hills. Rizwan was delivering a Swiggy food parcel on the third floor when he fell to his death.

    A customer’s unleashed German Shepherd started chasing Rizwan when he went to deliver the parcel. Fearing an attack, Rizwan jumped from the third floor in an attempt to escape.
