A group of friends from Delhi, led by Harish Chouhan, are organizing a Rathotsava (chariot) to bring together the Indian Bhageeratha community. This community is known by various names in different states such as Sagara, Noni, Uppilian, Goundi, and Goundar. The Rathotsava will tour across the country to unite these ancestral communities. The Gadwal district Sagara committee organized a welcome ceremony at Beechupalli Sagara Community function hall for this initiative.

During the ceremony, Harish Chauhan mentioned that the Sagara community is referred to by different names in various states, such as Uppari in Telangana, Uppara in Andhra Pradesh, Uppar in Karnataka, Goundi and Goundiyar in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, and Loniya in Gujarat and other northern states. In Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, they are listed as backward classes and go by the names Nonia and Noni. Due to these different names, the community lacks recognition and identity. Therefore, it is important for all of us to come together and fight for our rights. The final ceremony of the United Sagara Bhageeratha community will take place on February 29th at Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi.
