The Congress party is trying to regain its lost ground in the GHMC limits after not performing well in the recent Assembly elections. Chief Minister and TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy is focusing on three Lok Sabha constituencies – Malkajgiri, Chevella, and Secunderabad. Revanth Reddy wants to ensure that Congress retains the Malkajgiri seat and is looking for a strong candidate. Congress leader Mynampalli Hanumantha Rao has shown interest in contesting, and there are other aspirants as well.
Deepa Dasmunshi has been appointed as the new state in-charge by the AICC, and Revanth Reddy has started holding meetings with local leaders to identify the right candidates for Malkajgiri, Secunderabad, and Chevella. There are speculations that former Chevella MP Konda Vishweswar Reddy may be considered. The Congress wants to put a strong candidate against Union Minister G Kishan Reddy in the Secunderabad Assembly constituency. Anjan Kumar Yadav, who lost the Assembly elections, is lobbying for the Secunderabad seat and is pushing for his son to be given the ticket.
Revanth Reddy will hold a meeting with all Congress leaders in January to finalize the candidates for the three Lok Sabha segments.
