Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) plans to introduce 200 new diesel buses by Sankranti to improve passenger convenience. As per the government’s orders, 50 buses will be operational within a week. The aim is to enhance the overall travel experience and provide more comfort for passengers.
TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar recently inspected the new Lahari sleeper-cum-seater, Rajdhani AC, and express buses at Bus Bhawan. The officials were questioned about the facilities available for passengers in these buses. Due to the increased passenger frequency with the implementation of the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, which allows free bus travel for women, it has become necessary to make buses more readily available.
Sajjanar stated that the Corporation has decided to purchase new buses to improve the quality of services for passengers. In the coming months, more buses will be added. Currently, there are 400 Express, 512 PalleVelugu, 92 Lahari sleeper-cum-seater, and 56 AC Rajdhani buses. Sajjanar also mentioned that the corporation already operates 540 electric buses in Greater Hyderabad and 500 in other parts of Telangana. The goal is to make all these services available by the end of March next year.
The Chief Operating Officer (CVO) Dr V Ravinder, Executive Director Krishnakanth, CME Raghunatha Rao, CTM Jeevan Prasad, and others were present during the inspection.
