The Central Election Commission (CEC) visited Andhra Pradesh for two days to review the Special Summary Revision of Voters List-2024 and the general election preparation activities. On the second day, the CEC conducted a comprehensive review at Hotel Novotel in Vijayawada. The meeting was attended by State Election Commission (SEC) officials, district collectors, and SPs, and focused on various aspects such as voters list, poll preparation activities, check posts, and problematic areas.
During the meeting, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Dharmendra Sharma instructed the officials to identify sensitive and problematic areas and enhance security measures to prevent any untoward incidents. He also asked the Andhra Pradesh Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Mukesh Kumar Meena to closely monitor the districts where errors were found in the voters list.
In addition to the review meetings, the CEC delegation will also hold a special meeting with Chief Secretary Dr. Jawahar Reddy, Director-General of Police (DGP) KV Rajendranath Reddy, and other higher officials. On the first day of the visit, Dharmendra Sharma emphasized the importance of universal adult franchise in strengthening democracy and addressing issues related to voter verification and electoral malpractices.
