    Kishan confirms central government’s dedication to safeguarding and advancing India’s rich cultural heritage

    Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and DoNER, G. Kishan Reddy Reddy has stated that the government is dedicated to preserving and promoting India’s valuable intangible cultural heritage. The government is taking all necessary measures to ensure that these abstract art forms are passed down from one generation to the next.

    During his address to the artists, Reddy assured them of the full support and cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in reviving endangered performing art forms. He also encouraged the artists to share their suggestions for the improvement of art and artists with the Ministry of Culture.

    The launch of 100 training programs for rare performing art forms, which are at risk of extinction, took place in a special function at Rabindra Bhavan, Sangeet Natak Akademi, in New Delhi. The event was attended by Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Uma Nanduri, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, senior officials from various ministries, as well as eminent artists from different art forms.

    The training programs, called ‘Kala Deeksha’, are part of the initiative by Sangeet Natak Akademi to fulfill one of the Prime Minister’s goals – to take pride in our roots. These programs will be conducted under the guidance of renowned Gurus and experts in rare and endangered performing art forms, following the traditional Guru-Shishya parampara scheme.

    Several Gurus and trainers from across the country were invited to participate in this special program. This initiative aims to preserve and promote India’s diverse cultural heritage for future generations.
