Parents have been dealing with the problem of fee hikes for years. In the past two years, one parent’s son had a school fee increase of Rs 40,000. Schools are now demanding that parents pay the full amount at the beginning of the academic year, instead of allowing installment payments. Parents are frustrated with the lack of a complaint mechanism. They believe that the only solution is for the government to form a committee to address these issues.
Another parent, Robin, believes that there should be regulations in place to prevent education from becoming a business. They suggest that the new government focus on improving government schools and establish guidelines to limit fees. They believe that no matter what facilities private schools provide, they should not be able to charge more than a certain amount.
Anil Reddy, another parent, is concerned about additional expenses such as books, uniforms, and transportation fees. He points out that schools change textbooks and uniforms every year, forcing parents to pay for these changes. He agrees that there is currently no mechanism to control this issue and urges the new government to take strong action.
