Union Minister G Kishan Reddy emphasized the importance of the tourism sector worldwide. He spoke at the B2B Meet-2023 event, which focused on investment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector in South India and North Eastern states, with a special focus on healthcare tourism. Representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam, and Meghalaya attended the event.

Reddy highlighted the efforts made by the Indian government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to boost domestic tourism. These initiatives have led to a significant increase in foreign tourist arrivals in the country. Reddy also mentioned that hosting the G-20 summit helped showcase India’s culture, customs, traditions, and tourist attractions to people from around the world.

Reddy stressed the need to develop tourist destinations in India to international standards and attract foreign direct investments to the tourism sector. The government has taken steps to improve connectivity to tourist destinations and will soon organize a Global Tourist Investment Summit in Delhi.

The Vibrant Villages program aims to develop border villages into tourist destinations, while the “Marriage in India” concept is being introduced to promote destination weddings. The government is also encouraging homestays in various parts of the country to create employment opportunities. Reddy emphasized that the Centre is working with all states to develop the Indian tourism sector.
