Hyderabad is currently speculating about the delay in choosing a Muslim candidate for a key position in the State government. There is talk that the Congress leadership may be prioritizing young individuals for important roles, such as an MLC.
Former Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir has been mentioned as a possible Minority Minister, but the names of other leaders and activists are also circulating on social media. One contender is Nampally candidate Feroz Khan, who lost to former Mayor Majid Hussain by a small margin. Some Congress leaders believe that Khan’s fighting spirit and resilience make him a suitable candidate for Minister for Minority Affairs and an MLC post. They argue that Khan’s determination in the face of opposition would benefit the party and the minority community.
Other leaders being considered include Syed Nizamuddin, PCC spokesperson, Syed Azmatullah Husseni, PCC campaign convenor, PI Ahmed Nasir, AICC member, and Shaik Salauddin, Gig Labor rights activist. Nizamuddin is well-known among transport activists and is actively involved in party activities. Azmatullah has a history of student activism and has held important positions within the Congress party. Nasir, the brother of former MLC Maulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmad, is respected among Youth Congress leaders at both the state and national levels. Salauddin, although not a Congress leader, has strong connections to the party and has represented gig workers to the party leadership.
These potential candidates bring diverse backgrounds and experiences to the table, and their selection could contribute to the growth and representation of minority communities in the State government.
