In a notable stride towards advancing women’s empowerment, Shadnagar legislator Veerlapalli Shankar inaugurated the Mahalakshmi Scheme—a groundbreaking initiative aimed at providing complimentary bus travel for women in the constituency. Championed by the state government, this ambitious scheme is poised to positively impact women across diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Addressing a spirited audience at the inauguration ceremony hosted at the local depot on Saturday, MLA Shankar conveyed his enthusiasm for the Mahalakshmi Scheme, labeling it a pivotal boon for women in the region. Encouraging all women within the constituency to capitalize on the free bus travel opportunity extended by the scheme, he emphasized its transformative potential.

MLA Shankar, recognizing the day’s significance, celebrated it as a festival for the people of Telangana. Coinciding with the birthday of Sonia Gandhi, who played a crucial role in the state’s formation, he urged every Telangana citizen to take pride in their identity as part of this vibrant community.

Reflecting on the pre-election commitments made by the Congress party, MLA Shankar expressed pride in the prompt realization of two guarantees under the leadership of state Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The Mahalakshmi Scheme, unveiled as a birthday tribute to Soniamma, is designed to address the needs of lower and middle-class women, young women, and students in Telangana.
