    Revanth Reddy, a member of the Congress party, is set to become the first Chief Minister of Telangana. At the age of 54, he will also be the youngest Chief Minister in the state’s history. Revanth was born on November 8, 1969, in KondareddyPalli village in Nagarkurnool district. He graduated from Osmania University and started his political career with the ABVP. In 2006, he became a ZPTC member as an independent candidate. He is married to Geetha, who is the niece of former union minister S Jaipal Reddy.

    Revanth was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in 2007 as an independent candidate. He later joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) under N Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership and won the Legislative Assembly election from Kodangal in 2009. He played an active role within and outside the Assembly during his time with the TDP.

    After the formation of Telangana State, Revanth contested and won the Assembly election from Kodangal again in 2014. He served as the working president of TDP from 2014-17. However, in 2017, Revanth resigned from TDP and joined the Congress party. He was appointed as the working president of Congress in 2018 and contested from Kodangal but lost to BRS candidate Patnam Narender Reddy in the Legislative Assembly election.

    In 2019, Revanth contested for the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat. In June 2021, he was appointed as the Pradesh Congress Committee chief and took oath as the TPCC president on July 7.
