Congress leaders, including Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, and others, met Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to claim the formation of the government. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had resigned in the evening. The Congress Legislature Party will meet on Monday morning. Central observers like D K Shivakumar and Manikrao Thakre will meet the newly elected MLAs individually to seek their opinion on the new chief ministerial candidate. They will then submit a report to the party high command for a final decision. The Monday meeting will also decide whether the new government should take oath immediately or at the L B Stadium as planned earlier.

Speculations suggest that Revanth Reddy may be the first choice for the new CM and he may take oath on Tuesday. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have approved the election of Revanth Reddy as the CLP leader. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Sitakka may be appointed as Deputy CMs. Other senior Congress leaders like D Sridhar Babu, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodar Raja Narasimha, Vivek Venkata Swamy, and Vinod are likely to be inducted into the Cabinet.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday. On December 9, the Congress will hold a public meeting at the L B Stadium, and the first Cabinet meeting will also take place on that day. December 9 is both Sonia Gandhi’s birthday and the day when separate Telangana was announced by the Congress.
